Trees for Science!
On September 19, members of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) joined members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and Save Ocean Science (SOS) in St. Andrews, NB, for a ceremonial tree planting event.
Speakers included Jeff Irwin, the National Vice President of the Union of Environment Workers (UEW) and John Castell, a retired scientist, former PIPSC member, and activist with Save Ocean Science.
The event drew attention to the Harper government’s attack on public science, especially the impacts of funding cuts on science capacity, the environment, and the ability to offer services to local communities.
On the 19th of every month, local PSAC members will continue to host different actions in order to bring attention to the importance of the next federal election.
