Chalk River Laboratories Professional Employees Group (CRPEG)
Expiry Date: June 30, 2011

The largest issue facing our members involves the restructuring of the employer, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL). Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) will remain owned and operated by AECL. However, once the reactor is back up and running, offers will be solicited to integrate private sector management at CRL. The Institute has not opposed this initiative but has made several written requests to be involved in this process. To date, all requests have remained unanswered.

Expiry Date: First Collective Agreement

The New Brunswick Crown Counsel Association and the New Brunswick Crown Prosecutors' Association were both certified as bargaining agents by the New Brunswick Labour and Employment Board on January 12, 2010. PIPSC is acting as agent for both groups. Bargaining for their first collective agreement commenced on February 1, 2010 with an exchange of proposals. Meetings with the employer occurred in February, March and April. Further dates are scheduled for May 18-21 and June 15-17, 2010. Negotiations for Essential Services Agreements are proceeding concurrently. A meeting with the employer was held March 31, 2010. Should negotiations not be successful, a Board hearing is scheduled for June 21, 2010.

New Brunswick Veterinarians
Expiry Date: February 28, 2010

The Group served notice to bargain on January 5, 2010. The employer has indicated that they will not be prepared to negotiate the renewal of the collective agreement until an Essential Services Agreement is in place. The employer has made an Essential Services proposal that has, in part, been rejected by the bargaining committee. The employer has indicated that they are not prepared to negotiate any changes to the existing agreement that was ordered by the Board in 2005. Accordingly, the bargaining committee will make an application to the NBLEB for changes to the existing order.
