91st Annual General Meeting

Notice of Meeting

The 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada will take place on November 26 and 27, 2010. The AGM will be held at the Centre Sheraton Montréal, 1201 René-Lévesque Boulevard West, starting at 8:30 a.m. on November 26. All regular and retired members in good standing are cordially invited to attend. Expenses will be reimbursed only for official delegates to the AGM.

Changes to Institute By-Laws

By-Law states "No By-Law shall be enacted, repealed or amended by a General Meeting unless details of proposed changes were submitted to the Office of the Executive Secretary not later than twelve (12) weeks prior to a General Meeting." Institute Fees

Pursuant to By-Law 14.2.1, which governs fees, notice is hereby given that a change in the basic monthly fee may be proposed at the 2010 Annual General Meeting.

Delegates and the Delegate Selection Process

The number of delegates for the AGM is defined in By-Law 13. (The By-Laws may be found on the Governance of the Institute web page under the “Who We Are” drop-down menu at A detailed description of the new process for the selection of delegates and the delegate count may be found on the web page for the 91st AGM.

Groups and Regions will choose their delegates and substitutes by June 30. The online registration will be open from July 2 to September 10, 2010. The close of registration will be Friday, September 10, 2010. In cases of cancellations after the deadline, due to unforeseen circumstances, it may be possible to register substitutes through the AGM Coordinator, Julie Gagnon (

Institute Awards

Award nominations must be received by the Office of the Executive Secretary ( by September 30, 2010. Please visit to see the full requirements for each award, in addition to the nomination forms to be used for Life Membership, Service Award, and Citation Certificates.

Life Membership may be awarded to a member who has been in a position of leadership for at least 10 years. A Service Award may be given to Institute members or staff, but no more than 5 awards may be given in 1 year. Nominations must include: a list of the nominee's service and dates; a summary of achievements; a brief citation for use if and when the award is presented.

The President’s Achievement Award may be awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a high level of commitment in promoting professionalism and who meets the criteria as published in the Institute By-Laws and Regulations. Please visit the Awards web page under the Services drop-down menu at

Citation Certificate nominations may be submitted anytime throughout the year and recognize outstanding service to a Group, Sub-Group, Region, Branch or to the Institute as a whole. More information is available at
