2nd Call for Volunteers for 2017 Standing Committees of the Board of Directors

Following its meeting of January 20, 2017, the Board of Directors is launching a 2nd Call for Volunteers to fill vacant positions on some of its standing committees for 2017. The Board has directed that only volunteers from the same Region as the vacant position will be considered. The vacant positions are as follows:

For the BC/Yukon Region Only:

One (1) position on Elections
One (1) position on Elections Appeals
One (1) position on Professional Recognition and Qualifications

For the NCR Region Only:

One (1) position on Elections Appeals

For the Québec Region Only:

One (1) position on By-Laws and Policies
One (1) position on Elections Appeals
One (1) position on Information Technology Services and Projects Committee

If you are interested in participating as a Member on one of the above standing committees for 2017, you are invited to submit your expression of interest by completing the prescribed form and sending it to committeevolunteers@pipsc.ca by the deadline of February 24, 2017.

Application Process

You may put your name forward for a maximum of two (2) committees.

Duly fill out the prescribed form as follows:

  • Clearly identify the committee(s) by title. If requesting to volunteer on two (2) committees, rank these in order of preference.
  • Indicate your Group and Region.
  • List any Committees of the Board on which you served for the past five years.
  • Include a brief rationale (in the prescribed form) outlining the reasons why you wish to be considered and what you would bring to the work of the committee you are applying for.
  • Submit your expression of interest by the deadline to committeevolunteers@pipsc.ca by February 24, 2017.

Note: Only volunteers who have complied with the due-process call for nominations, and have adhered to the prescribed time lines, shall be deemed to be eligible candidates.

Deadline

The deadline for expressions of interest is no later than February 24, 2017.

Selection Process

The Chairs of the Committees listed above will be provided with the complete list of volunteers for their respective Committee. The list will include the volunteer’s Region, Group affiliation, Committee preferences, brief rationale, and any other supporting documentation provided.

As per the Policy, any member who requests to be on a Standing Committee and is denied that opportunity shall be informed as soon as possible after the Committee’s membership has been selected. Any recommendation from the Region that a committee Chair or the Board of Directors does not accept will require a written explanation explaining their rationale. (AGM 2015)
