Call to Institute Members for Applications for The Steward Appeal Roster

The Institute has made changes to its “Steward Policy” (effective October 1, 2016).

The objective of the Steward Policy is to outline the selection, renewal, and removal process, as well as the roles and responsibilities of stewards and to ensure that the steward program runs efficiently and effectively. The most recent changes were to establish a “Steward Appeal Roster” mandated to deal with appeals when stewardship applications or renewals are denied.

The Institute is now seeking applications from Institute members to volunteer for its “Steward Appeal Roster”. Up to twelve (12) members will be selected from amongst Regular and Retired members and appointed for a term of three (3) years.

To qualify, you must:

  • Have recently made a demonstrable contribution to PIPSC members as a steward for at least three (3) years;
  • Demonstrate a willingness to advance the interests of the Institute and its members;
  • Present an open mind and possess the ability to apply principles of fairness;
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Be capable of engaging peers and staff in constructive dialogue to determine the merits of an appeal;
  • Not hold a position on the Board of Directors or office as President or Vice-President of a constituent body.

The Institute’s deadline for application for the Steward Appeal Roster is February 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. EST.
