A Message About The 2011 Federal Election
Fellow members,
Following the defeat of the government, Canadians once again find themselves going to the polls.
While PIPSC remains a non-partisan organization, not affiliated with any political party, it must nevertheless continue to protect your interests during the election campaign. That’s why, over the next few weeks, we will be actively communicating our message to all audiences across the country – our members, candidates, the media, and of course the general public.
We will focus our efforts on reminding Canadians of the important role played by the public service, and in particular by our PIPSC professionals, in protecting their well-being and safety. We will contrast our values of service, transparency and accountability with the approach favoured by the Employer over the past few years. And we will make every effort to ensure that Canadians have the opportunity to make an informed decision before they go to the polls on May 2nd.
In the weeks ahead, we will be communicating with you by various means on a regular basis. In addition, we encourage you to visit the PIPSC Web site frequently for updates regarding the election and related issues. Perhaps most importantly, we invite each and every one of you to actively engage all candidates, whether on your doorstep or at events in your community. Ask them to commit to maintaining a public service that has the tools and resources required to fulfill our mandate of defending the Public Good.
In Solidarity,
Gary Corbett
