AFS APPA Representation - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The current AFS APPA Representative on the AFS Group Executive, Shannon Bittman, has resigned.

The AFS Group Executive asks members qualified to apply as noted below who would be interested in completing the remainder of the term of that position to express their interest at this time. The term for this position expires on August 31, 2011.

AFS Regulations (R.4 1.2.3.5) states that to be a candidate for the APPA Representative position, the member must be substantively classified as AC, CH, CO, ED, EN, ES, FI, LS, MG, PS, SE or SI.

To vote for the APPA Representative position, the member must be classified as AC, CH, CO, ED, EN, ES, FI, LS, MG, PS, SE or SI.

The AFS Group By-Laws state:

4.2 Vacancies

4.2.1 On the retirement, resignation or removal of any Officer, the remaining Officers shall decide, in such manner as they deem appropriate, to appoint a member of the Group as a replacement to fill the vacancy until the next election for that office.

The duties of the Group Executive are listed in AFS By-Law 4.3.1. Copies of the AFS By-Laws are available on the PIPSC Web site.

Therefore, the AFS Group Executive is asking those members nationally who are qualified to fill the APPA Representative position an who are interested in serving on the Group Executive to send their nomination form and résumés to the AFS Group Executive Elections Committee to be received no later than 12:00 noon, February 26, 2010 c/o Rose St. George, PIPSC National Office, 250 Tremblay Road, Ottawa, ON

A Voter’s kit will be mailed after all nominations are received to the members who are qualified to vote.

The “Nomination Form” is attached to this newsletter.

The responsibilities of the Elections Committee are to try to ensure there is at least one candidate for each position.
