Bargaining Update 13 S&A Group :Tentative agreement reached!
Dear S&A members, as was previously reported, the S&A group and the CFIA were heading for arbitration in February of the New Year with mediation set for December 11, 2013. However, we were contacted by the CFIA in early December to see if we were willing to meet one more time to continue bargaining. We agreed since the CFIA was given a new mandate and was indicating that they were close to accepting the proposals we had put forward in January 2013. There was extensive communications between the teams and a face-to-face meeting took place on December 17, 2013 and we reached a TENTATIVE AGREEMENT for the renewal of the collective agreement.
We are still holding the arbitration date until both parties ratify this deal. The members of the S&A group executive endorse this tentative agreement as the best possible under the current circumstances and recommends voting in favour of it.
The details of this agreement will be posted on the PIPSC website and only S&A members will be given access. This Tentative Agreement has to be ratified by the members of the S&A group via a vote. If you are not a member and would like to participate into the vote, you can fill an application form.
Voting will be by electronic means ONLY. No paper ballot will be provided. The Tentative Agreement and voting instructions will be posted in January and you will be given 17 working days to complete your vote.
This was an extremely difficult round of bargaining for all PIPSC groups and your bargaining team. Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process.
