CFIA-VM Bargaining Update #2
Your VM bargaining team met with the employer between May 25 and 27, 2016. We received presentations from Gerard Etienne on agency transformation, and John Morgan from the Learning Division, on training and learning initiatives in CFIA.
The parties discussed a number of issues including labour relations, harassment and professional development and training. The Employer tabled its sick leave proposal which parallel’s the proposal being discussed at Treasury Board Bargaining Tables in the core Public Service. PIPSC Groups, including the VM Group, have decided to form a central table to address the employer’s sick leave proposals, as all groups are being impacted by the Treasury Board’s demand on sick leave and short term disability. The employer still has a number of proposals they have not tabled particularly around working conditions such as hours of work, shift work and travelling time, the meat hygiene and supervisory allowances and wash up time. The parties will meet again to discuss issues between June 21 and 23.
