CS Bargaining - Update #31
June 5th, 2013
We have been receiving a lot of questions regarding articles 8 “Overtime”, 10 “stand-by” and 27 “Information”. Be aware that these articles did not change during the last negotiations.
In paragraph 10.04 for stand-by, we harmonized compensation with that of a call-back under paragraph 9.01. This means that for each call fielded when on stand-by, employees shall receive the higher of:
- 3 hours at the overtime pay rate; or
- Pay for the hours of work performed at the overtime pay rate.
The overtime pay rates are defined in article 8.01. The main rates are:
- Time and one-half (1.5x) for the first 7.5 hours and double time (2x) thereafter;
- The rate is immediately double time (2x) for work on the second day of rest in a row or on a statutory holiday.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Paper copy of the collective agreement
Article 27.02 governing the distribution of the collective agreement remains unchanged. The Employer agrees to supply each employee with a hard copy in paper, booklet format, of the collective agreement and any amendments thereto. If you have not received your copy of the new collective agreement, makes a request to your supervisor.
Severance pay termination
All members should have received their severance information packages by March 14th, 2013. Employees shall advise their departments of the term of payment option selected before June 14th, 2013, otherwise they will be deemed to have chosen to wait until their retirement to cash out their severance pay. If you have not received your severance package information, contact your Resource Human advisor immediately.
