NBCC & NBCP Groups - Bargaining update #2
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As you may know, our collective agreement expired in March 2013. After settling the essential services agreement with the Employer, the Crown Counsel Group and the Crown Prosecutors Group commenced joint collective bargaining. We have been in negotiations since January 2015 and our last round of bargaining ended on August 27.
We have attempted to achieve at least some parity with our counterparts in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. We have also attempted to resolve some other longstanding issues, such as, the ceiling between lawyer 3 and 4 as well as the entry level point at Lawyer 1. There has been next to no movement thus far.
We have another round of bargaining dates set for October, which we think will be determinative of whether a deal can be struck or not.
Very shortly, and before our next bargaining round, we will be proposing some things that you can do as members to show your solidarity. While these activities and gestures may appear to be unimportant, job action starts small, but ends with a bang.
