National engineering month announcement by PIPSC federal government engineers
On behalf of Professional Engineers Ontario and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, we invite you to celebrate our exciting and diverse profession by getting involved in the events of National Engineering Month.
National Engineering Month (NEM) is a month-long, Canada-wide celebration of engineering where volunteers in each province and territory stage events and activities designed to increase public awareness of engineers and engineering technology. Even more important, it is designed to encourage young people to consider careers in engineering. During the celebration, each region across Canada chooses a week in which to hold its celebrations.
This year in Ontario, NEM will take place from February 27 to March 7. More than 100 volunteer-staged events will be held throughout the province offering a great opportunity to have fun, whether you decide to volunteer or simply attend an event with your family.
As a lead-in to the festivities, a special information supplement will be published in the February 25 Ontario edition of The Globe and Mail newspaper to increase awareness of the many ways that engineering contributes positively to the lives of all Canadians.
For information about NEM events in Ontario, visit www.engineeringweek.on.ca or see the January/February issue of Engineering Dimensions at http://www.peo.on.ca/DIMENSIONS/janfeb2010/janfeb2010.html. For a listing of nationwide activities, visit www.nem-mng.ca.
Let's all get involved!
