- Only the provision of Severance Pay is affected by the date of signing- Under the terms imposed by the arbitration, indeterminate employees shall be entitled as of November 7th, 2012 to severance termination benefits equal to (1) weeks pay for each complete year of continuous employment and, in the case of a partial year, one year pro-rated to a maximum of 30 weeks.

- The RE Bargaining Team met with the employer in arbitration October 2 and 3, 2012 in Ottawa. The arbitration was heard by Arbitrator Ian Mackenzie and the RE Group Sides-person Bob Luce and TB sidesperson Jock Climie.

- “Living Dead” Take Over Libraries and Archives Canada

- A spooky horde of zombies surrounded the offices of Library and Archives Canada in Gatineau on Wednesday, October 31st around lunch time. Witnesses said that the zombies were hungry for brains, and were in search of the dead and dying.

- National Archival Development Program Eliminated

- On April 30, 2012, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) eliminated the National Archival Development Program (NADP), a $1.7 million contribution program administered for the LAC by the non-profit Canadian Council of Archives (CCA) and distributed to 13 provincial and territorial archives councils to support archival activities locally.

Like our forebears in the 1935 On to Ottawa Trek, who protested government mismanagement during the Great Depression, angry archivists and our allies from coast to coast will descend on Ottawa (and other locations across the country). We will be heard.
