Status update

Joint Institute/Treasury Board Career Development Committee.

As most of you know already, during the last round of bargaining with the Treasury Board, The SH bargaining team came to an agreement with the employer. It was agreed a Joint Institute/Treasury Board Career Development Committee would be created as per art. 18.07 of the SH collective agreement.

We met three times with the employer since then. We have asked the Departments to look at the SH collective agreement, who realized that it is different from other collective agreements, on career development in particular.

As per article 18.05 a), it is the employer’s responsibility to establish criteria for granting leave under this clause. Once they have the criteria written up, it is expected that they will be sharing them with us.

Although article 18 has been part of our collective agreement for several years already, we are discussing its implementation. There has been more movement on the application of the article in the last year and a half than in any of the previous years but it has proven to be more of a difficult endeavor than expected.

We will be keeping members updated as soon as any developments occur.
