Litigation Update # 26: Service Canada Message Regarding Settlement
Service Canada has posted a message regarding the medical adjudicators’ human rights settlement here (http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/audiences/partners/adjudicators.shtml).
The message may lead to some confusion, as it asks that certain individuals contact the HRSDC e-mail address (NC-MA-Settlement_Entente-EM-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca) “to obtain potential compensation.” The message fails to mention that HRSDC has also received information about current and former medical adjudicators from the Institute and the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
Litigation Update #25 has important information regarding this, and we suggest that you review it.
You should contact the noted HRSDC e-mail address (NC-MA-Settlement_Entente-EM-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca) and correspond with HRSDC directly if:
- You filed a CHRC complaint and have not received the letter described in Litigation Update #25;
- You filed a CHRC complaint and your contact information since then has changed;
- You are uncertain as to whether the HRSDC has your accurate information; or
- You have any further questions.
Please note that the obligations of the parties, including the Employer, complainants, and non-complainant individuals, and the timelines for action are all set out in the Memorandum of Agreement and Order.
