  • December 6 is Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this date marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. They died because they were women.

  • It is every worker’s right to be compensated fairly. When the Institute’s members are underpaid, it is the Institute’s job to act in defence of its members’ rights. On April 6, 2009, PIPSC filed an application with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice challenging the constitutionality of the Budget Implementation Act, the legislation which includes the Equitable Compensation Act (ECA).

Removing the barriers that make it difficult to recruit and retain members of designated employment equity groups is a legal obligation that federal employers must meet under the Employment Equity Act (EE Act).
