Terrible Tale #4: Anyone up for some training?
About 3 years ago I was transferred to a new Department, and was assigned to work in the area of Security. Coming from a fairly generic background, after the transfer I expected to receive some training and development to ensure my effectiveness in this new role.
It’s been 3 years and I have yet to receive any training. My manager has informed me that there is a cap on training budgets and that there likely won’t be any again this year. Meanwhile, we’ve just been told that they are planning on hiring five contractors to supplement our team. Maybe if my team was trained and supported properly, the Department wouldn’t have to waste money on finding external contractors to fulfill workloads.
