1. Opening Rally on Parliament Hill, on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
On opening day, PIPSC will take part in the rally, where tens of thousands of participants are expected.
All members are invited to meet PIPSC’s President and other Institute representatives on Parliament Hill at 4 p.m.
Look for the PIPSC Better Together rally banner. Bring your Group’s gear and swag.

PIPSC will be officially participating in the following Forum workshops and events:
2. “Censoring Science” Workshop, on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, University of Ottawa, Room FSS 4004
This workshop, sponsored by PIPSC, is part of the broader “Peoples’ University” organized by the Collectif d’analyse politique (CAP), the Nouveaux Cahiers du socialisme (NCS), and Canadian Dimension magazine (CD).
This workshop promises to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders to discuss and tackle the most pressing science policy issues that affect the future of Canada’s public science capacity and its ability to serve the public interest.
This workshop includes a panel discussion featuring Katie Gibbs (Researcher at the University of Ottawa and Executive Director of Evidence for Democracy), Christian Rouillard (President of the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa) and Yves Gingras (Researcher and Professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal).

3. The “Movement Assembly on Quality Public Services” on Saturday, August 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., University of Ottawa, Room ARTS 033
This Assembly brings together a broad alliance of social organizations – major public service unions and NGOs – that view quality public services as fundamental to the creation of societies that are equal, democratic and sustainable. Participants will discuss and debate how to advance public services through adequate public resources and accountability, democratic governance, and respect for the rights of public service workers and communities alike.
How can you participate?
To get your free registration, valid for all activities, please send an email that includes your name, e-mail, local, and PIPSC ID number. As this is NOT a union activity, PIPSC is not reimbursing other expenses, i.e. salary loss, travel, accommodation, parking fees, etc. Places are limited, register now! First come, first served.

What is PSF ?
It is a vast event that that promotes the involvement of individuals and organizations interested in building a better, fairer, and more equitable Canada. The PSF is part of the global movement of social forums that have emerged at different levels since the first World Social Forum (WSF) was held in Porto Alegre (Brazil) in January 2001. The last World Social Forum was held in Tunis in March 2013 and the 2015 one will also be organized in the same city.
