Notice re: recent attacks in Ottawa and Quebec

The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) wishes to extend its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, the soldier fatally shot near Parliament Hill in Ottawa yesterday, along with our best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in efforts to stop his assailant. We also extend our sincerest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent who was killed in a similar attack in St. Jean Sur Richelieu, Quebec on Monday.

The heroism and public service of law enforcement officials and, in particular, Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers, who is credited with finally stopping Cpl. Cirillo’s assailant, is a testament to the dedication of those who stand in harm's way in defending Canadian values and democracy. On behalf of all our members, including those who work on Parliament Hill, we extend our deepest appreciation.
