Compulsory lessons in science literacy for UK Conservative MPs

Science Lessons Slated for Tory MPs.

"Compulsory lessons in science literacy" will be part of the induction program for new Conservative Party Members of Parliament following the next UK election. Current Tory MPs and peers will also have the opportunity to attend. The new program unit is part of an effort to "strengthen evidence-based policy-making," and is a response to the small numbers of scientifically trained legislators in the two leading parties. Sir David King, former chief scientific advisor to the UK government, has criticized the way in which scientific evidence has been used in UK policy decisions in recent years.
