Bill C-525: Update (March 24, 2014)

Members of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities (HUMA) have agreed to revise Bill C-525 by lowering to 40% the threshold at which certification/decertification votes are triggered and removing the provision requiring that votes be based on the entire bargaining unit rather than the total number of votes cast, a provision the chair of the Canada Industrial Relations Board described as “perverse.” The bill now goes to Third Reading in the House of Commons.
