Budget 2011 Update

Fellow members,

As you know, the federal Budget presented earlier this week by the government may or may not be implemented, depending on the results of a motion of non-confidence moved by the Liberal party, and likely to be voted on by Members of Parliament on the morning of Friday March 25. Should the government fall following the results of that vote, as many observers predict, then a national election will follow and the Budget’s provisions will not be put in place. However, they could potentially be reintroduced at a later date.

Members should be assured that the Institute is carefully monitoring developments and that their interests will continue to be protected no matter the outcome of the anticipated vote in the House of Commons.

We will provide you with additional information as soon as it becomes available.
