Hard-Won Victory for Term Employees and Equal Rights Brigitte Lavoie, CS Group member working in the National Capital Region, considers herself a fighter who stands up for what she believes. Brigitte was a term employee who lost both her job and the opportunity to qualify for indeterminate status because she was on maternity leave. With the help of the Institute, she fought and won a battle for equal treatment for all term employees who take parental leave. |
Federal Election 2008 PIPSC is a non-partisan union which does not tell its members for whom to vote. Our duty is to defend the interests of our members and, by extension, the interests of the Canadian public. That’s why the Institute went into action to encourage its members to speak up on issues affecting them during the federal election campaign. |
Public Science 2008 Campaign In November, the Institute is launching a campaign in support of the science groups currently in bargaining or headed for arbitration. |

Scholarship Laureates A total of $32,000 was awarded to 10 successful candidates chosen from among 64 top-notch submissions in this ninth year of the scholarship program. Since its inception in 2000, the Scholarship Program has awarded 73 scholarships, totalling $196,000. The Institute appreciates the generosity of its scholarship sponsors. Congratulations to these deserving laureates. |
