Snapshots - Vancouver Branch AGM
It was a full house at the Vancouver Branch AGM.. As usual, Branch Chair Paul Skinner and his executive attracted a large number of their members to come and review issues of concern. Paul provided a synopsis of the bargaining landscape and reiterated that the current, most important issue is that of the HST.
Special guest President Gary Corbett reviewed the strategic objectives developed by the Board at its yearly retreat. He spoke of the possible upcoming challenge to the pension plan and that because of its potential impact, the Institute had formed a common front with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and other bargaining agents. Vice-President Don Burns spoke of the importance of getting the message out that public services are essential for the country. Public service employees work for the good of all Canadians and we need to continue to strengthen that message.
