Editor’s Note

The Institute embarked on a campaign to sensitize Canadians to the issues relating to a government seeking to cut programs and services during the recent election. Our “pièce de resistance” was an all-candidates debate hosted jointly with the University of Ottawa and Rogers Cable network. It was probably the only regional debate where all five parties were represented with star candidates. Although raucous at times, this was a stimulating, yet respectful debate. Veteran television host Don Newman steered the discussions with tact and diplomacy. An event to remember! Speaking of television, over the course of the coming months, we will be increasing our use of webcasts to communicate with our members and other target audiences. We all recognize that video messaging is an effective, easy, economical and environmentally friendly method of communicating. There will be a series of messages on different topics, starting with severance pay. Check them out at www.pipsc.ca and tell us what you think. Write to clecours@pipsc.ca .
