REIMBURSEMENT OF EARNED DAY OFF

WHEREAS,
union volunteers use much of their own time to carry out activities for the union and its’ members;
AND WHEREAS,
the union has recognized through the “Balancing Union Activity and Family Life” policy that the volunteers time is valuable;
AND WHEREAS,
union volunteers are reimbursed for using Vacation Leave, Leave Without Pay,Lieu Leave, etc. to participate in union activities;
AND WHEREAS,
many volunteers use their earned day off when attending union meetings and activities;
AND WHEREAS,
some Managers do not allow changes to schedule to allow the member to take another day and/or have issues with union people taking time off for union business;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT
the earned day off, when used for attendance at an authorized meeting or activity, be reimbursed at 7.5 hours based on the member’s regular hourly rate of pay.
